Dr. Stanley Saulny is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in eyelid or oculoplastic surgery, routine eye care, and disease management.
Dr. Stan Saulny is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in plastic surgery of the eyelids and upper face. Eye plastic surgery, sometimes referred to as oculoplastic surgery, is done not only for cosmetic reasons but also for the treatment of age-related changes to the eyelids (such as droopy eyelids), for rehabilitation after trauma (automobile accidents, facial burns), and for reconstruction after the removal of facial tumors. Dr. Saulny's goal is to ensure his patients appear natural and rejuvenated after surgery. Because of the care and compassion he provides for his patients, Dr. Saulny received the "Super Doctor" award in 2012 – 2017. He is extremely proud to help his community and feels honored for the nomination.
EDUCATION
Dr. Saulny's education includes extensive medical training at Harvard Medical School, an ophthalmology residency at UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute, and a plastic surgery fellowship at Oregon's Casey Eye Institute. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, followed by a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California. Before becoming a physician, Dr. Saulny served as an engineer and captain in the U.S. Air Force.
SPECIALTIES AND EXPERTISE
Specializing in oculoplastic surgery, Dr. Saulny helps patients who suffer from various symptoms caused by drooping eyelids. He uses conservative surgical techniques to provide natural and beautiful results for patients. In addition to oculoplastic surgery, Dr. Saulny practices general ophthalmology and can diagnose, treat, and help manage different types of eye conditions, such as infections, dry eye syndrome, or myopia. He can also perform yearly eye exams and help fit patients for contacts and glasses.
PERSONAL
When it comes to helping his patients with eyelid surgery, Dr. Saulny feels, "It is very important to have a thorough discussion with every patient about their goals and expectations before any surgical procedure." He continues, "This applies not only to our cosmetic patients but to the reconstructive patients as well. In general, my philosophy is never to make a patient 'look' as though they've had plastic surgery. My goal is to make patients appear natural and rejuvenated after surgery. I believe it is well worth the extra effort it takes to do my best to avoid leaving the telltale signs of conventional facial plastic surgery."
